VA Vehicle Grants & Adaptive Equipment Benefits

VA Vehicle Grant Benefit Information for Disabled Veterans

VA vehicle grant benefits are provisions offered by various governmental programs that provide financial assistance to disabled veterans when purchasing or adapting vehicles for their mobility needs. These vehicle grant benefits are specifically designed to accommodate service-related injuries or disabilities, ensuring veterans have improved access to transportation for their daily activities. They play a crucial role in enhancing the independence and quality of life for disabled veterans. VA Benefits & Forms

VA Automobile Allowance

Related Form: VA FORM 21-4502

The VA Automobile Allowance may help eligible veterans or service members with a qualifying service-connected disability purchase a specially equipped vehicle. As of October 1, 2025, the VA may pay up to $27,074.99 directly to the seller of the vehicle. Eligibility, approval, and benefit amounts are determined by the VA.

VA Adaptive Equipment Benefit

Related Form: VA FORM 10-1394

The VA Adaptive Equipment Benefit may help pay for approved equipment that allows an eligible veteran to safely drive, enter, or exit a vehicle. This may include wheelchair lifts, scooter lifts, hand controls, power steering, power brakes, or other approved modifications. Adaptive equipment benefits may be available separately from the vehicle allowance, depending on VA approval and program guidelines.

Non-Service-Connected Assistance

Veterans with non-service-connected disabilities may still have options for certain mobility equipment, vehicle modifications, or assistive resources through VA programs, local agencies, or other funding sources. Eligible non-service-connected disabled veterans can receive benefits toward non-operational equipment to aid in the entry and exit of a vehicle. Coverage and eligibility can vary, so it’s best to speak with the VA and Superior Van & Mobility before purchasing a vehicle or equipment.
