The Chrysler Voyager with a BraunAbility Fold-Out XT conversion is designed for wheelchair users who sit taller in their chairs and may need a wider door opening to accommodate a larger wheelchair.
The Chrysler Voyager Power Fold-Out XT features the following dimensions: 57-inch door opening height, 32.375-inch door opening width, and 30.125 ramp width. Click here for additional buying tips.
A few advanced features of the Chrysler Voyager Power Fold-Out XT include a single-touch power entry and exit system via a factory key fob or set of interior switches found throughout the cabin, easy-glide, power sliding doors, a power-operated, fold-out wheelchair ramp system, and an automatically controlled kneeling system (which reduces the ramp angle). Removable front seats with removable cup holders allow upfront passenger or from-the-chair driving by the wheelchair user.
The Braun Chrysler Voyager handicap-accessible van has both sliding side doors that are power-operated, as is the integrated, fold-out wheelchair ramp system.
Every accessible van features an integrated power backup system that can operate the ramp in case of a power failure. Plus, the ramp can be pushed manually to deploy for a safe vehicle exit with a fold-out ramp system. For exact ramp specifications and dimensions, see the chart below.
The lowered floor is one of the main components when shopping for a wheelchair-accessible vehicle. Reducing the foundation is the key element to allowing a wheelchair user to maneuver about the interior cabin of a vehicle safely and comfortably.
In the BraunAbility® Power Fold-Out XT, Chrysler Voyager wheelchair conversion, the floor is lowered 14 inches. The drop in the floor takes place from the firewall (just behind the engine) to the rear axle. This lowering creates the taller door opening height for entry and exit and provides a wheelchair user a direct line-of-sight while driving or riding as a passenger.
Both front seats on the BraunAbility® Fold-Out XT, Chrysler Voyager wheelchair-accessible vehicle, are easily removed. The driver’s seat could be removed to allow a wheelchair user to drive directly from their wheelchair, and the passenger seat could be removed to allow a wheelchair user to ride up front in the passenger position alongside the driver.
Both seats are equipped with removable cup holders for added convenience.
