Built on the Dodge Grand Caravan chassis, the Summit wheelchair-accessible van conversion from VMI utilizes a durable, fold-out ramp system that provides years of reliable deployment. The ramp features 2-inch high side rails, providing a safe operating environment for most wheelchair users up to 54 inches in seated height.

The VMI Summit Dodge Caravan handicap van minimizes road noise through advanced engineering while incorporating all of Dodge’s most popular features and offerings. Plus! The 1.5-inch higher ground clearance helps reduce ground scraping, commonly found in competitor vehicles. Click here for additional buying tips.

Automatic Door And Wheelchair Ramp Operation

The VMI Summit Dodge Caravan wheelchair van conversion features a fold-out ramp design that can accommodate manual wheelchairs, power wheelchairs, and mobility scooters with loads up to 1000 lbs. The sliding doors and wheelchair ramp are powered and easily deployed from the factory keyfob remote or numerous interior switches. The ramp and doors are easily operated manually in a power failure through VMI’s Sure-Deploy system.

Headroom And Lowered Floor

The floor from just behind the firewall to the third-row seat in the VMI Summit Dodge Caravan wheelchair-accessible minivan is dropped 11 inches. This floor lowering creates the needed headroom for the wheelchair user throughout the cabin. In addition, the door opening height is enlarged to a usable height of 54 inches, which makes the VMI Summit wheelchair-accessible van conversion a suitable choice for most wheelchair users.

Auto Kneeling Feature

To reduce ramp angle and make it easier for a wheelchair user to enter and exit the vehicle, the VMI Summit wheelchair van conversion features a “kneeling” system. When the deploy ramp command is initiated, the onboard computer activates an actuator mounted on the vehicle’s rear passenger side. Once engaged, the actuator lowers the van’s ramp side, thus reducing the ramp angle. This option can also be turned off with a switch on the dash for various loading situations.

Removable Front Seats

The obstacle-free front seats are easily removed to create multiple seating arrangements for wheelchair users and passengers. The space inside the VMI Summit Dodge Caravan wheelchair-accessible vehicle is large enough to accommodate two wheelchairs side-by-side if needed.

Corrosion Resistant Floor

All VMI Summit Dodge Caravan wheelchair vans have floors made from galvaneal steel and are E-coated for optimal rust and corrosion prevention. Something not found on competitor vehicles.
